Dashboard examples you can try with your CSV

Explore three dashboard examples with explicit sample data and metric definitions: KPI, finance and sales. Try your CSV in the KPI view below, or open an example to inspect its worked numbers and replace its synthetic data.

How can I try a dashboard here with my own CSV?

Choose Use my CSV or paste CSV into the KPI example below, then match your category, reporting-period, primary measure and target fields. The initial synthetic sample defines actual revenue of 270,000, target revenue of 300,000 and attainment of 90%; these are authored arithmetic expectations, not native-runtime compatibility proof.

Use a header row, one category column, one reporting-period column and a numeric measure. Use a numeric reporting period, YYYY-MM (for example 2026-01), or YYYY-MM-DD (for example 2026-01-31). Labels such as Q1 or Q2 are not supported; convert them to a numeric period or an explicit date before importing. Choose fields after importing. CSV limits: 32 MiB on lower-memory devices or 160 MiB on higher-memory devices, and 3.5 million source rows. Views support up to 10,000 marks per sheet. Continue editing supports up to 100,000 source rows.

Opening the synthetic sample. Your own CSV replaces it.

The live view aggregates the selected primary and comparison fields, calculates the defined comparison, and charts the primary measure by category and period. The linked sample record defines the expected values for the initial SUM settings. A ratio with a zero denominator is undefined.

Which dashboard example should I start with?

Start with the example whose fields and review question match your data. Every example includes its exact synthetic CSV, metric definitions and a live view that accepts your own CSV.

How do these three dashboard examples differ?

Each example uses a different business question and field definition. Select the one whose row grain and measures fit the data you want to inspect.

What else do people ask?

The examples use synthetic data and accept your own CSV. Open the relevant example to inspect its field definitions and replace the sample.

Do these examples include customer data?

No. Each example uses six authored synthetic rows for January–March 2026. Download its CSV and JSON definition record to inspect exactly how the worked numbers are defined.

Can I use my own data in an example?

Yes. Use the KPI view on this page or open an example, choose Use my CSV or paste CSV, then match your category, period, primary measure and comparison field. Check the live result against your source and continue editing in xmetric.

Which reporting-period values can I use in my CSV?

Use a numeric reporting period, YYYY-MM (for example 2026-01), or YYYY-MM-DD (for example 2026-01-31). Labels such as Q1 or Q2 are not supported; convert them to a numeric period or an explicit date before importing.

Are these sample numbers proof of native workbook compatibility?

No. The linked records define authored synthetic inputs and arithmetic expectations. Native-runtime rendering and own-data behavior require separate verification; a matching sample alone does not establish Tableau or Power BI workbook compatibility.
