How do I open my .csv file?
Drop your file here, or choose it to preview its columns and rows in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Paste your own data, edit it, then import it again to update the table. Example data uses the separate button below.
Choose a file to begin.
What does a .csv file contain?
CSV stores a table as text records with comma-separated fields. A header row names the columns.
Format source: CSV format documentation. The source describes the format; xmetric-specific behavior is stated separately.
How does CSV compare with Microsoft Excel XLSX?
Choose a format for the information you need to retain. A flat table cannot preserve a report layout, spreadsheet formatting or every source type.
| Format | Structure | Type or compatibility consideration |
|---|---|---|
| CSV | Delimited text rows | Inferred on import; no stored schema |
| Microsoft Excel XLSX | Workbook containing worksheets | Imported cell values |

What should I check before using my .csv result?
CSV has no stored column types. Check inferred dates, identifiers and leading zeros.
Compare column names, nulls and important values with your source before sharing a table or chart.
What limits apply to my data?
These limits apply to tabular imports, not native Power BI or Tableau report compatibility. File size and browser memory limit what xmetric can open. Table downloads reject oversized results instead of silently dropping rows.
| Limit | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| File size | 32 MiB on constrained devices; 160 MiB otherwise |
| Imported rows | Up to 3,500,000 |
| Preview page | 100 rows |
| Download | All rows, up to 100,000 rows; no sampling |
Source: xmetric limits and verification record, checked 2026-10-27. These are product limits, not file-format limits.
Can I open my .csv file without uploading my data?
Yes. xmetric processes the selected local file in your browser. Opening the file does not upload it; saving a workbook online is a separate action.
What should I check after importing .csv?
Check quoted commas, leading zeros and date inference.
Can I turn this table into a chart?
Yes. After checking the table, choose Chart in xmetric to continue with the imported data. Text formats may be converted to CSV for that handoff; review inferred types and download limits.
Which other formats can I convert my .csv file to?
Choose a supported conversion below to review the table before downloading another format.
- CSV to Excel converter — Send a CSV as an Excel workbook
- CSV to JSON converter — Use a spreadsheet export in a script
- CSV to PARQUET converter — Keep a CSV export in a typed columnar format
Use Chart in xmetric above to turn the loaded table into a view you can edit. Browse file viewers or convert a table.
