How do I open my .xlsx file?

Drop your file here, or choose it to preview its columns and rows in this browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Choose a file to begin.

What does a .xlsx file contain?

An .xlsx spreadsheet packages workbook and worksheet parts. xmetric imports its first worksheet as a table, rather than editing Excel formulas or formatting.

Format source: Microsoft Excel XLSX format documentation. The source describes the format; xmetric-specific behavior is stated separately.

How does Microsoft Excel XLSX compare with CSV?

Choose a format for the information you need to retain. A flat table cannot preserve a report layout, spreadsheet formatting or every source type.

FormatStructureType or compatibility consideration
Microsoft Excel XLSXWorkbook containing worksheetsImported cell values
CSVDelimited text rowsInferred on import; no stored schema

Sources: Microsoft Excel XLSX format documentation; CSV documentation.

What should I check before using my .xlsx result?

Only the first worksheet is imported. Spreadsheet formulas, formatting and macros are not a spreadsheet editing environment.

Compare column names, nulls and important values with your source before sharing a table or chart.

What limits apply to my data?

These limits apply to tabular imports, not native Power BI or Tableau report compatibility. File size and browser memory limit what xmetric can open. Table downloads reject oversized results instead of silently dropping rows.

Can I open my .xlsx file without uploading my data?

Yes. xmetric processes the selected local file in your browser. Opening the file does not upload it; saving a workbook online is a separate action.

What should I check after importing .xlsx?

Move the intended table to the first worksheet and check headers and dates.

Can I turn this table into a chart?

Yes. After checking the table, choose Chart in xmetric to continue with the imported data. Text formats may be converted to CSV for that handoff; review inferred types and download limits.

Which other formats can I convert my .xlsx file to?

Choose a supported conversion below to review the table before downloading another format.

Use Chart in xmetric above to turn the loaded table into a view you can edit. Browse file viewers or convert a table.
